CDA Orders Audit of 3 Directorates in Alleged Wrongdoings

In response to allegations of wrongdoing, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) management has ordered a special audit of its three directorates.

According to the plan, the municipal agency’s Market & Road Maintenance Directorate, Machinery Pool Organisation (MPO), and Environment Directorate will be audited for the first three months of the fiscal year.

The governing body stated in a notification that a three-member engineering committee led by DG Services Mohammad Nawaz, Director Maintenance Mashooq Ali Sheikh, and Director Planning and Development Ramesh Kumar would provide technical assistance for the director audit.

The committee has been tasked with verifying the work in terms of quantity and payment, as well as confirming the quality of the work through any necessary tests.

According to the sources, Mohammad Usman, the chairman of the CDA, learned from his own sources that the three construction-related directorates were allegedly involved in misconduct.

Furthermore, the aforementioned directorates used enormous sums of money not only during the first quarter of the current fiscal year, but also in previous years, and enormous sums of money were paid out based on bids for work performed.

Despite contradictory data on the total amount of money spent on quotations in recent years, some officials claim that eight billion rupees have been spent on quotation projects.

In a letter dated January 27, 2021, CDA demanded that the practise of conducting work through quotations be discontinued immediately in order to ensure transparency and adherence to standard procedure.
